I bought this little heater to put in a 3 gallon hospital tank. (My current heaters were too big for such a little tank.) It's in an already warm room (23C/73F) and I only needed it to raise the temp a few degrees as per instructions on the medication. The light comes on, suggesting that it's working, but the heater itself only gets marginally warmer and after 24 hours the water is still room temperature. I removed 2 gallons of water from the tank because the instructions said it's only good for .5 to 1.5 gallons and I figured I must have been over working it, but it can't even keep 1 gallon warm. Complete waste of $30.
I got this heater for my 3.5 gallon betta tank, and I must admit, it overheats it sometimes. It never actually turns off as far as I can tell, so it definitely doesn't keep it at the desirable 26 C. I just blow a fan on his tank since it's the summer right now and that keeps it just right. In the winter, I'm sure it will do it's job perfectly, but be warned: this WILL cook your fish if left unattended. It would probably work better for a 5 gallon, honestly, but for my 3.5 or anything less, it overheats it.
Have it in my 5.5 gal tank. Keeps the water temp at 76 deg. I used to have in my 1 gal tank and even in that small space it still kept a consistent temperature.
They advertise it for only 1.5 gallons but it was able to efficiently heat my 5 gallon very well.
No problem, one of the most reliable mini heaters. Would even compare this to my fluval e heater, but that is for my turtle and heats 100 gallons.
All in all its great. Cant get better for the price
this is my 3rd "betta" heater .... betta smetta..... this is a great heater for your 2.5 -10 gallon TANKS! these great little heaters are thin and sleek AND totally sit either under the gravel or on the bottom of the tank. HELLO
