FAQ's about pet grooming

How long will grooming take?

Appointments take between three and four hours, but is dependent on breed, services requested, and coat condition. We also offer express appointments for walk-in nail trimming which take apx. ten minutes.

How often should my dog/pet be groomed?

There are many factors that determine frequency of grooming for your pet including breed, coat condition, hair type, density, season, weather, indoor vs. outdoor, and more. Each pet is different and we encourage you to speak to the groomer when you come in to set up a schedule that works best for you and your pet.

My pet is matted, will they have to be shaved down?

Matts pull tightly on your pet’s skin, which causes discomfort, irritation and pain. Matt's should be brushed out or removed when you first notice them and are a sign your dog is due for a grooming. In excessive cases, when a pet’s hair becomes severely matted , the easiest and best thing to do is a close shave to remove all the matts. Brushing out matts is a stressful time on a pet and is best avoided by regular brushing. There are products to help manage a pet that is prone to matting so speak to your pet counsellor for some expert advice on the matter.

Do you use sedation on the pets?

No. We do not sedate pets nor do we groom pets that have been sedated.

What is included in a full grooming session?

A full groom typically includes a bath, thorough brushing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and a haircut customized to the breed. Other services are available, please ask when you make your appointment.

What if my dog is anxious?

Our groomers have experience with anxious dogs and can offer special handling to minimize the stress of grooming.  Starting young and frequent brushings can help puppies become comfortable with the grooming process so an adult dog understands that grooming is fun experience and that they will feel better afterwards. Please speak to the groomer if you have any concerns about your pet.
